The Reedy football team got its District 7-5A season off to a good start on Friday with a 27-21 victory over Lake Dallas at the Ford Center.

Reedy drove 78 yards for a touchdown on its first possession and added a field goal in the second quarter to take a 10-0 lead. Quarterback Jalen Kitna then threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Josh Hernandez to give Reedy a 17-0 lead and another field goal made it 20-0 before halftime.

The Reedy defense stuffed Lake Dallas in the first half, forcing four punts and getting another stop on fourth down.

Lake Dallas trimmed Reedy’s lead to 20-14 in the third quarter, but Kitna and Hernandez connected for another touchdown pass – this one 26 yards – to give Reedy a 27-14 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Reedy (2-1, 1-0 in Division II District 7-5A) plays Friday at Denison in another district game.
